Adjusting!

Well...you all are probably saying to yourself..."Man, I miss those pictures!" As you can imagine we have been very busy trying to get adjusted with Lincoln here at home. We will be updating more frequently...but for a short while it will be slow going. Lincoln had his first checkup with the cardiologist and the pediatrition at Children's Hospital on Tuesday. They both said Lincoln is doing good and if things go smoothly, we could wait as long as 6 months before the next surgery. Lincoln is still learning to eat better. We are still having to feed him whatever he does not finish through his NG tube. Please pray that he continues to build strength and stamina to take ALL of his food. This could be a sloooooow process! Lincoln is also experiencing some constipation due to the type of formula we have to give him...please pray for that also as it is giving him some pain and a little blood in his stool! When the Dr's were saying that "cardiac" babies tend to want to be held....they weren't kiddin! Lincoln does not like to be put down...whether in his swing, in his bed or just DOWN or else we hear about it! Lincoln has finally developed his scream and he is sure to use it if he is not being held. He is sleeping well at night, hates baths with a passion and loves being in his room. Well, we took Lincoln on his first outing other than to the doctors....Target!...ya, he likes Target. Well, I know you all want to know every little detail...but thats really it for now. We will be sure to update more often....keep the prayers going! We love you all! J&K

What a truly amazing journey for you all. Isn't God amazing?
I just stumbled upon your site, but know that I will be back, and will be joining the throngs of people praying for you both and for Lincoln. He is a divine gift and you have touched so many lives with your love, faith ,and story. I pray it only gets easier from here, and if you hit a rock in the path, know that there are people out here who are praying for you. God is Great! And so are you for your love and inspiration. Now, if you'll excuse me, I must go find myself a kleenex and dab my eyes.
God Bless

Hi Josh & Kristen, What a thrill for you to bring Lincoln to us. He is so very very precious.
We will keep the prayers coming your way. I can't wait to hold him again. If you need a rest, I'll buzz right over and help you out by doing the holding... :)

Dear Janelle,

Thank you for sending the Lincoln updates. Each and every update has been a wonderful reflection of God's goodness.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make your paths straight

There's a little saying that comes to my heart that goes like this:"As God's children, our lives unfold daily like pages in a book.
Each circumstance is a diffent chapter. Each page is a new opportunity to live out God's plan for us."
Lincoln's parents have placed their hope and trust in the name of the Lord. Through their act of obedience and because of their perseverance they continue to eb great testiment of faith. They've welcomed the Lord to use their tremendous trial as an opportunity
to show God's love, goodness and faithfulness to others.

Philip 4: 6-have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus this is exactly what these wonderful parents have been doing throughout their tremendous trial.

I'm absolutely thrilled to hear that Lincoln is finally at home with His parents! We know it can be difficult for the first few weeks. Let's continue to bring Lincoln and his parents before the Lord in prayers.
Psalms 37:4 "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.

'All Glory, honor, power and praise be to the Lord our God!

In His love,

Chaplain Millie

Another From Chaplain Millie Vierra:

Josh and Kirsten truly know the Lord and that He is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him" (Nahum 1:7)
They put their trust and hope in the name of the Lord. His promises always prove true 1 Kings 8:56. His strength is always sufficient.
Josh and Kirsten have chose to put on "a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair" (Isa. 61:3) They believe God's word is necessary
for receiving strength and encouragement. It is a Lamp unto our feet and a light to our paths. Lincoln parents have placed him in the
Lords loving care. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. ( Psalm 139:13-14). The Lord has promised "I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you. (Isa. 46:4)We do not need to worry just Abide in Him and in His word. To Place our confidence in HIm and to be faithful.

It is a great privlidge and encouragement to receive "The Lincoln updates." This precious little child who's just a few weeks old has
already begun reaching out to others through his miracle and through his parents in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!
"Glory Be to God in the Highest!"

May our God send rivers of living water to refresh their souls and spirits. "He gives strength to the weary and increases the
power of the weak"( Isa.40:29)

Chaplain Millie

Hello Carters...
It's the Kings... We are thrilled for you! I sooo remember those first days home w/ Matthew after 6 months in the ICU's.. It was quite overwhelming... especially going to all those Dr appointments... we had 15 the first month home!
It was a year ago yesterday that Matthew had his first open heart surgery.. What a year... and he's doing soooo great now. You'd never know by looking at him that he had any heart defect! I know that in one year... Lincoln is going to be a fat happy little guys trying to crawl around like Matthew.... Matthew is still trying to crawl... he'll get there!
There is soo much hope! I thank God every day for the prayers we received. They are working!!

Hi Josh and Kristen,

Thanks for the wonderful update on Lincoln's adapting to home with mommy and daddy! He is sooooooo adorable and has really grown since last pics. I will continue to pray he learns to drink all of his formula and that he will not be constipated as I do not want him to be in any pain.

Good to hear that he is sleeping well at night and trust that you are as well. Sounds like he has you both in the palm of his hands as far as being held! It's amazing how young they can get spoiled but I am sure you want to hold him as much as possible with all you and he have gone through.

Glad you took him to Target instead of Nordstroms since he liked it so much! ;-) Hope that continues through his life!

Thanks for posting the picture of you, Josh, with your Dad and Grampa Frank. I had not seen a picture of Frank in many years. I am glad that he was able to hold Lincoln.

Thanks again for sharing with all of us as I know it is a busy time for you. I will pass this update on to those praying and I know they will be glad to hear the latest news. God's blessings to each of you.

Hugs and love,

aunt donna :-) Prov. 3:5-6

Hi Josh and Kristen,

Thanks for the wonderful update on Lincoln's adapting to home with mommy and daddy! God's miracle continues step by step and it has been so exciting to see Lincoln's progress. I know that he has touched many lives in his short life and know God has been glorified. He is sooooooo adorable and has really grown since last pics. Such great pictures and such great news! Lincoln looks so cute and so healthy. I'm sure things are difficult...it's hard to have someone depend on you so wholly...we'll be praying for Lincon's strength as well as yours...take care

There are no words that could describe witnessing a mommy rock her baby in her arms and seeing the expression of joy in her face. It was sweet satisfaction to visit you and hold him as well. We look forward to many family gatherings with Lincoln...and Sydney looks forward to changing his diaper. She's a pro now!

Jill has been keeping me up to date on the latest info and we couldn't me more pleased with how wonderfully Lincoln is doing. He is proof that God is still in the business of miracles. Glad to hear the three of you are getting out on occasion. It can seem overwhelming at times to get out with an infant, I can only imaging that his special circumstances make it that much more so. Keep doing it, though. It is so good for all of you to return to as much normalcy as possible. The girls and I still pray for "baby Lincoln" every night at bedtime! We trust that you guys can feel the power of all the prayers being lifted for you. Looking forward to more updates.
